Official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Turkish Republic

A two-day official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Turkish Republic has started on March 3.

The international and legal basis that includes a number of documents, in compliance with which dozens of important for sustainable development of the whole region joint projects have been successfully implemented, has been established within the years of development of the Turkmen-Turkish diplomatic relations. The projects on construction of the new International Sea Port in Turkmenbashi, International Airport in Ashgabat, modern medical institutions, large textile complexes, Olympic Village in the Turkmen capital, a number of infrastructural facilities at the Avaza tourist national zone, etc. are of particular significance.

Within the last twenty years, the business circles of the fraternal Republic of Turkey have proved themselves at the Turkmen market. Turkish companies registered in Turkmenistan take an action part in implementation of ambicious programmes of the social and economic development of our country that is vividly proved by steadily increasing volume of the bilateral trade turnover.

The joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council as well as regular business forums and exhibitions that demonstrate the most favourable opportunities for the further dynamic development of cooperation building up in all key areas, in particular in the trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport and communication spheres, play a crucial role in enhancing mutually beneficial partnership.

The International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan will be held in the largest business centre of Turkey – Istambul in the framework of the Turkmen leader's visit. The forum will bring together over 600 participants representing the business circles of Turkey and more than 40 countries of the world as well as various international organisations and banking institutions.

A representative delegation of our country will visit BOSB large industrial areas and hold a number of meetings. The meeting agenda at the International Association of Exporters will focus on the opportunities for widening the constructive business partnership given the common interests and complementarity of the national economies of the two states.

Other initiatives put forward by our country, including preparations for the remarkable date – the 20th anniversary of the legal status of the permanent positive neutrality of Turkmenistan were widely supported by the Turkish side. A book exhibition in Ankara dedicated to the Year of Neutrality and Peace will demonstrate Turkmenistan's adherence to the open-door policy and wide international cooperation.
