Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi who arrived in Ashkhabad with an official visit.

The sides noted a positive dynamics of development of the Turkmen-Chinese relations, having underlined presence of prospects of development of contacts in the field of biological and information security, power energy, non-resource sectors of economy, as well as in the fields of culture, education, science and healthcare. In particular, the parties considered issues on mutual establishment of cultural centres, organizations on a regular basis of Days of culture, exhibitions, film festivals and other creative forums.

Heads of Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China discussed issues of international and regional problematics, cooperation in urgent issues on international arena and noted importance of mutual support of initiatives and undertakings on the international platforms. Ministers especially underlined necessity of strengthening of foreign policy coordination concerning counteraction to the general challenges and present threats.

Upon completion of the meeting R.Meredov and Wang Yi also signed the Plan of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China for 2021-2022. As heads of foreign policy departments of two countries underlined, the given document will give systematic character and consistency to the collaboration between Turkmenistan and the PRC.

Following the results of the talks the “Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China on Cooperation on Science, Technologies and Innovations” was also signed.
