As it has been already informed, the delegation of our country on July, 14-16, 2021 was sent by the Order of the President of Turkmenistan to the city of Tashkent of the Republic Uzbekistan for participation in the High=-level International Conference «Central and South Asia: regional connectivity. Challenges and possibilities».

The main topic of the discussions was the preparation to the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, as well as the events of political, economic and humanitarian scope organized in the framework of the Meeting, which is planned to take place in Turkmenistan in August of current year.

The Ministers exchanged views regarding the agenda of the upcoming meeting, as well as discussed the legal-contractual part of the upcoming Consultative Meeting, in particular the documents planned to be adopted. The organizational and protocol matters were also discussed.

Marking importance of the further expansion of interaction in the area of multilateral structures, the parties supported strengthening of diplomatic partnership.

On the 15th of July 2021, the talks in “C5+1” format were held in Tashkent between the heads of external policy agencies of the countries of Central Asia and the U.S. delegation led by the Homeland Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.

During the talks, the parties discussed the key vectors of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and South Asia in combatting the climate change and ecological problems, developing transport-transit potential of the region were voiced among the priority directions of collaboration.

Participants of the meeting also confirmed interest in the diplomatic dialogue aimed at consolidation of cooperation on counteraction to threats and challenges of regional security.

The Afghan topic became a subject of detailed discussion. In this connection the parties expressed adherence to creation of the stable and favourable conditions promoting peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.

Following the results of negotiations the Joint Statement was accepted.

Also within the forum the meeting of Turkmen delegation with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Ms.Terhi Hakala took place.

During the exchange of views on actual issues of cooperation the sides discussed the level of trade-economic ties and interaction in humanitarian field. The sides analysed current and prospective mutual projects including in the field of the health protection, ecology, transport and education.

Particular emphasis was placed on key aspects of regional and international agendas. Diplomats spoke in favour of strengthening foreign policy coordination to maintain regional stability and security. In this context, the effectiveness of the established mechanism of cooperation between EU and the countries of Central Asia was confirmed.

The agenda of the High-level International Conference on July 15-16 «Central and South Asia: regional connectivity. Challenges and possibilities» includes issues of development of relations of the countries of region in transport-logistic, power, trading, industrial, investment, cultural-humanitarian spheres and area of the innovative technologies.

Representatives from more than 40 countries of the world, including the international organisations took part in the forum work. In its frameworks there will pass sessions in which prospects of expansion of cooperation between the states of Central and South Asia in various directions.
