The event in honor of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Turkic republics took place in Hungary. This is reported by the official website of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). A large-scale festival in Budapest, organized by TURKSOY jointly with the Turkic Council, the Yunus Emre Institute and the House of Hungarian Heritage, was dedicated to the anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Associate Professor, Dr. Bilal Chakyjy and General Director of the House of Hungarian Heritage Laszlo Kelemen made a welcoming speech at the event.
Emphasizing that cultural heritage and traditional folklore occupy a very important place in the history of states and societies, Bilal Chakyjy noted that TURKSOY makes great efforts to popularize the treasury of the Turkic world at the international level and preserve it for future generations. Expressing his satisfaction with the fact of Hungary's joining the Turkic Council as an observer, he said: “The Turkic world, occupying vast geography and having a multi-thousand-year history, has a rich heritage not only politically, but also culturally. The Turkic peoples have preserved their original national culture and folk applied art to this day. During this event, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of masters of various directions from leather production, jewelry and the art of marble processing to traditional clothing design.”
After the protocol part within the framework of the International seminar and master classes on the topic “Turkic-Hungarian folklore traditions in the XXI century”, masters from Turkic countries presented exemplary works of traditional crafts such as marble processing, leatherworking, jewelry making and carpet weaving to the visitors. As part of the event, a mini-concert was also held, during which Hungarian art lovers could hear and see musical melodies, dances and ethnic instruments of the Turkic world.
The gathering continued the series of festive events organized by TURKSOY during 2021. In February, the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, in cooperation with TURKSOY, organized an online concert of ethnic and traditional musical melodies “Colors of the Turkic World”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Turkic republics. More than 250 artists from Turkmenistan, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Gagauzia (Moldova) took part in the concert.
The photo exhibition “30 years of independence of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan”, was held by TURKSOY in the Turkish city of Nigde in cooperation with the University Omer Halisdemir. The photographs presented at the exhibition have been exhibited several times since the beginning of 2021 in various cities and regions of Turkey, including Maltepe in Istanbul and Karaman.
Recently, an exhibition dedicated to the culture, creativity and photography of Turkmenistan was organized in Ankara by the Ministry of Culture of the Turkish Republic, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Turkey and TURKSOY. At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Turkey Ishankuli Amanlyev noted that culture is seen as one of the foundations of the processes of democratic and social transformations, stressing that Turkmenistan is fruitfully working in this area in close cooperation with such large and reputable international organizations as UNESCO and TURKSOY.
