January 20 rehearsal room of the Mollanepes Student Theater was filled with youth and scene elders of the Turkmen theatrical art. A chamber atmosphere reigned, the general mood to which silently informed: “Quiet please, exam in progress!”.

For the semi-annual standings, novice theater directors and actors, students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, prepared literary excerpts from the works of world classics. Heroes flashed in the stage space from stories by Anton Chekhov, O. Henry, Jean-Baptiste Moliere and Alexander Ostrovsky.

Theatrical excerpts are composed of sketches - small scenes that contribute to the development of acting technique. Every day, within the walls of a creative university, young men and women comprehend the secrets of the theatrical craft, learn to try on different images, master stage movement, speech technique, and practice the ability to build expressive mise-en-scenes.

Experienced mentor, senior lecturer Maral Kakabayevna Durdyeva gives its students not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge. By preparing high-level specialists, the teacher helps novice directors to reveal their abilities and transfer the most interesting creative ideas to the stage.

Characters turn out to be colorful in serious, thoughtful actors, knowing this truth, young people try to get used to the roles of albeit short, but such vivid dramatic scenes.

Merjen Gubaeva manages to drive the audience's attention to the tragic fate of Katerina from the play “The Storm” by A. Ostrovsky. Sympathy and tenderness are caused by the characters of the story “The Proposal” by A. Chekhov, performed by Begench Ishanguliyev, Didar Meredov and Gulshat Tokayeva. The students deal with imagery of comedy “The Doctor Despite Himself” by Moliere and excerpt from humorous story “Kindred souls” by O.Henry.

Thus, youth from different parts of Turkmenistan study theatrical classics. They independently find translations of texts from world literature, and sometimes they themselves translate excerpts of favorite works into the Turkmen language in order to embody plots on the big stage in the future that will be relevant at all times.
