President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Road and Urban Planning of Iran Abbas Ahmad Ahudi.

Having expressed his gratitude to the Leader of the nation for the opportunity to discuss the perspectives of bilateral cooperation in personal meeting, the guest conveyed warm greetings from President of Islamic Republic of Iran Hasan Ruhani to the Head of the State. Taking the opportunity, Abbas Ahmad Ahundi congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all Turkmen people on the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan and wished prosperity and successes in progressive transformations.

Having thanked for congratulations and warm words, the Head of the State addressed return best wishes to the leaders of friendly country. Having noted that development of mutually beneficial Turkmen – Iranian partnership is among the priority directions of foreign policy strategy of our state, the Leader of the Nation confirmed invariable adherence of Turkmenistan to traditionally friendly, trustful and equal relations with Iran.

Highlighting the importance of creative initiatives of the Turkmen Leader, the guest mentioned that decision of the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization on Global Conference for Sustainable Transport System in Ashgabat is bright evidence of high authority of Neutral Turkmenistan in the world. Abbas Ahmad Ahundi expressed his confidence that the coming forum will give additional stimulus to new approaches in consolidation of international cooperation and intensification of integrational processes in establishment of transcontinental transit and transport corridors.

Development of transport infrastructure is one of the key aspects of policy of our country, which together with neighbouring states realizeslarge regional and continental projects, - President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned. Turkmenistan occupies active position in the subjects of international cooperation, including in such actual direction as transport sphere, - the Leader of the nation emphasized.

During the meeting, the Sides shared the opinions on expansion of Turkmen – Iranian cooperation taking to account existing huge opportunities. Having stated with delight the high level of interstate relations, which are successfully developed both in bilateral and multilateral formats, the Head of the State and his guest spoke for intensification of productive partnership built on the solid basis of friendship between two neighbouring people.

Issues of implementation of large joint projects in transport sphere, serving to economic growth of both countries, became the main topic of the meeting. In particular, the role of Iran – Turkmenistan – Kazakhstan railway, which is central link of the North – South transport corridor and summoned to promote intensification of trade and economic relations between neighbouring states and throughout Eurasian space. Having touched on the subject of cooperation in marine transportation and road construction spheres, Abbas Ahmad Ahundi highlighted the importance of establishment of fruitful contacts in these directions.

Discussing perspectives of Turkmen – Iranian relations in trade and economic, fuel and energy, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the Head of Turkmenistan and his guest emphasized the role of the Interstate Committee. In this relation, the Minister of Road and Urban Planning of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is the Co-chairman of the Committee, gave number of proposals aimed at activation of productive relations.

Bidding goodbye, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Abbas Ahmad Ahundi expressed the confidence in further successful mutually beneficial partnership, which meets mutual interests.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Seyed Mohammad Ahmadi took part in the meeting.
