Today, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for an official visit to the Republic of Korea.

Prior to the flight, in a conversation with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan Shin Sung-chul at the Ashgabat International Airport the Hero-Arkadag stressed that Turkmen-Korean cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level of development in recent years.

As the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh noted, within the framework of the visit to Seoul, meetings are scheduled with the President of the Republic of Korea, with the Speaker of the National Assembly and a number of other meetings designed to give a powerful impetus to the traditional interstate dialogue. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. In view of the cooperation experience gained over the past years, there are good opportunities for its further successful development, and the implementation of a number of mutually beneficial projects.

In this context, the great importance of the Turkmen-Korean inter-parliamentary relations was emphasized. Having pointed out that there are plans to sign during the visit a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, as well as a number of documents with the participation of members of the delegations of both countries, the Arkadag expressed confidence that the agreements reached will open broad prospects for the development of strategic partnership in all areas.

One of the most important components of the Turkmen-Korean relations is the collaboration in the humanitarian area, to which the parties attach special importance. An example of a qualitatively new level of the established constructive dialogue between the peoples of the two friendly states are the Days of Culture of the Republic of Korea held in Turkmenistan with great success in early November.

The Korean diplomat expressed gratitude to the Hero Arkadag for the efforts made at the state level to further develop relations between the two countries in various fields, stressing that the current official visit of the Arkadag to the Republic of Korea will open a new page in the history of bilateral partnership.

Having completed a flight to Seoul, the Hero Arkadag’s airliner landed at the Seoul Air Base International Airport, where the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan was warmly and cordially welcomed by the Head of the Turkmenistan-Korea Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Lee Dal-gon, and other officials.

In honor of the high guest, soldiers of the Guard of Honor lined up along the carpet strip extending from the plane’s gangway.

A brief conversation took place over a cup of tea with the official representative of the Republic of Korea in the reception hall for high guests, during which Mr. Lee Dal-gon emphasized that he was glad to welcome Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Seoul, and expressed confidence that the current visit will mark a new quality and phase of cooperation between the friendly countries.

Thanking for the warm welcome, the Arkadag highlighted that partnerships with the Republic of Korea, which is actively participating in the implementation of joint projects for the construction of large industrial complexes in Turkmenistan, are successfully developing thanks to the open door policy being pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The agreements to be reached as part of this visit are exprected to contribute to bringing relations to a new level and the comprehensive development of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

The Turkmen-Korean Business Council and the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, created on the initiative of the Turkmen party, create favorable conditions for expanding long-term partnership on a mutually beneficial basis, the parties highlighted.

At the end of the conversation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan went from the airport of Seoul to the residence in the fashionable Lotte Hotel, designated for him for the duration of the visit.
