Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the spared time and opportunity to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation in a personal talk, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the head of state from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, who addressed wishes of well-being and prosperity to the entire Turkmen people. As it was emphasized, Iran attaches great importance to strengthening fruitful relations with Turkmenistan, built on a good-neighborly, mutually respectful basis.
Welcoming the guest and noting that one of the key vectors of the foreign policy of the Homeland is the development of multifaceted cooperation with neighboring countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the President and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting with satisfaction the traditionally friendly, fraternal nature of the interstate dialogue.
Speaking about this, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized the productivity of the Turkmen-Iranian partnership, which has demonstrated progressive dynamics since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.
During the meeting, the prospects of increasing bilateral cooperation were discussed, where mutual visits of government delegations are a significant factor. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, Iran is a major trade and economic partner of Turkmenistan, occupying one of the leading positions in its foreign trade turnover. In this context, confidence was expressed that the meetings and negotiations scheduled within the framework of the current visit of the Iranian Energy Minister to Ashgabat will facilitate the further development of effective cooperation that meets common interests.
As it was underlined, our countries actively cooperate in various industries. Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran have rich natural resources and a favorable geographical location, which creates favorable opportunities for cooperation in the foreign economic sphere, in the energy, transport and transit sectors.
In this regard, it was noted the need to develop more effective partnership mechanisms in order to optimally realize its huge resource and economic potential. Here, an important role is assigned to the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, destined to promote the intensification of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation aimed at achieving concrete results.
At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation based on strong ties of friendship and good neighborliness, principles of equality, mutual benefit and long-term, will continue to develop successfully for the common good.
