Welcoming Novruz!

Pupils of Ashgabat Specialized Boarding School named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi meet Novruz Bayram with songs, dances and cheerful youthful enthusiasm. Concerts are recently organized here and the opportunity to congratulate peers and teachers from the stage on the arrival of the long-awaited spring is worth a lot.

Carefully preparing for the festive event, the guys rehearsed creative numbers, learned songs, dances and poems. The girls baked a traditional delicacy of Turkmen cuisine - pishme. The most important decoration of the tablecloth was, of course, a dish of germinated wheat - semeni.

“Novruz Bayramy is one of our favorite holidays for us,” says Maya Sopiyeva, teacher at the school. - As part of the concert program, which consists mostly of folklore numbers, we are holding a culinary competition. Several classes prepared national dishes of the Turkic-speaking countries, just like us, celebrating the spring holiday. Our students’ efforts will be evaluated by the competent jury.

Well-known pop artists also arrived to support the talents of schoolchildren. Violinist Kerim Ahmedov, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Begmyrat Annamyradov, folk singer Ogulbibi Reyimova and others performed on the same stage with the guys.

Novruz Bayramy is an ancient holiday symbolizing the beginning of a new year, spring rebirth and a new harvest. Since 2009, Novruz has been included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a cultural tradition of many nations. In this regard, many countries celebrate International Novruz Day on March 21st.

In Turkmenistan, honoring the best traditions of their ancestors, the younger generation and young people strive to celebrate the National Spring Festival in accordance with folk customs. They are also reflected in the plays prepared by the students of Ashgabat Specialized Boarding School named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi.

At the end of the festive concert, the participants were awarded with memorable gifts from Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
