On November 7, the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference started in Paris and will continue its work until November 22. During the sessions, representatives of Member States will hold elections to UNESCO's governing bodies and its intergovernmental and international programs. The 42nd session will include a discussion of UNESCO's general policy, recommendations on the ethical use of neurotechnologies, and a forum of the organization's partners and youth.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the 10th interregional meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO of the member countries of the organization was held on November 6, 2023 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, which was attended by Ch.Rustamova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the discussion of important issues on the agenda, including reviews of reports, analysis of bilateral and multilateral initiatives, as well as an exchange of views on improving the practice of interaction between regional structures and National Commissions for UNESCO.

This interregional meeting demonstrated the commitment of National Commissions for UNESCO to contribute effectively to the implementation of UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy for 2022-2029 and Budget for 2026-2029, to provide a platform for exchange of views on the role of National Commissions in the implementation of the Organization's programmes and its strategic transformation.

Evidence of the active cooperation of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO with various committees and international experts of this organization was the decision of the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay adopted on 31 October 2023 on the inclusion of the Turkmen capital Ashgabat in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the category of "Design". The right to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, established in 2004, is granted to cities that are committed to the principles of culture and creativity in their development strategy and demonstrate innovative methods of people-centered planning.
