Scientists from the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan successfully solve the tasks set in the «State Program for the Comprehensive Development of Chemical Science and Technology in Turkmenistan for 2021 – 2025», which provides for increasing the role of science in the implementation of reforms in all sectors of the national economy and, in particular, the realization of potential chemical science in the production of environmentally friendly and import-substituting goods.
The Institute conducts fundamental and applied research in various branches of the chemical industry and their results are introduced into production. Thus, the development of chemical scientists for the production of technical hydrochloric acid, which is currently mainly imported from other countries for use in a variety of purposes, is of great economic importance.
In the laboratory conditions of the Institute, a number of research activities were carried out to obtain technical hydrochloric acid and the most optimal method of its production was selected based on local raw materials.
In order to experimentally confirm the results of scientific research and test the developed production technology, the necessary equipment was prepared at the «Garabogazkarbamid» plant to produce technical hydrochloric acid by reacting concentrated sulfuric acid with bischofite, a mineral raw material in which the «Garabogazgol» Bay is very rich. As a result of successful production tests, technical hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 35-37.5% was obtained.
In the future, the launch of full-scale production of technical hydrochloric acid based on local raw materials using the technology developed by scientists at the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences will satisfy its needs in the oil, gas, chemical, metallurgical, paper industries, as well as in medicine, chemical laboratories, and in the production of various paints and oils. This will not only be a significant contribution to import substitution, but will also allow for the export of these in-demand chemical products.
