The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan is recruiting participants for an essay competition on the topic «The role of international humanitarian law in maintaining peace and security on the planet».

Students and undergraduates of higher educational institutions of Central Asian countries - Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are invited to participate in the competition.

The goal of the competition is to popularize and disseminate knowledge about the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law among young people in Central Asian countries.

Only one individual author's work in Russian, not previously presented in other competitions, is accepted for the competition.

When evaluating original works, an independent jury will take into account knowledge in the field of international humanitarian law, originality of the idea, compliance of the content of the work with the declared theme of the competition, quality of presentation and ability to work with primary sources.

Those wishing to take part in the competition must send an application for participation with information about the author and a completed essay to the organizing committee of the event by email to hhkafedra@gmail.com by the 15th of  April.

A sample application for participation, rules for processing work and other useful information are posted on the official website of the IIR of the MFA of Turkmenistan in the Announcements section.

The results of the competition will be announced on the institute’s website on the 1st of May.

The winners of the competition will be awarded diplomas and memorable gifts. The award ceremony will take place on the 8th of May at the IIR of the MFA of Turkmenistan. Winners from foreign participating countries will be able to join the ceremony via digital video link.

The best original essays are scheduled to be published in the scientific and practical journal «Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan».
