On February 21, 2024, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Y.Seryaev met with the Director of International Relations of the British Library Marcia Hopkins. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, an acquaintance took place with the reproduction of the original manuscripts of the great thinker and classical poet of the East Magtymguly Fragi, stored in the British Library. In this regard, the issue of organizing a visit of representatives of Turkmenistan to the UK was raised to familiarize for a detailed acquaintance with the manuscripts of the Turkmen poet. The possibility of narration by representatives of the British Library about the poet’s manuscript for a documentary film entitled “Heritage of Magtymguly Fragi’s manuscripts”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, was also discussed.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on establishing cooperation between the British Library and the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, as well as Turkmen libraries.
In the framework of the visit, the books of the National Leader of the Turkmen people “Turkmenistan - the heart of the Great Silk Road” and “The city of Arkadag - the city of the future” were provided to the British Library collection.
