UNICEF and the Ministry of Education conducted training on strengthening ICT skills

32 future graduates of the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan "Döwletliler Köşgi" Palace in Ashgabat and the Balkanabat Orphanage strengthened their information and communication technology (ICT) skills during three weeks of training sessions held from April 22 to May 11, 2024. The training was organized by UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, so that graduates of these educational institutions could acquire ICT skills that will be useful for any future profession.

This initiative underscores the country's commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of life circumstances, has access to the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world. During the training, graduates of these institutions acquired not only technical knowledge and skills, but also social skills in communication, teamwork and problem-solving, important for their development and success in their professional life. The training sparked interest among the participating girls and boys in pursuing careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

According to Alexandru Nartea, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Turkmenistan, in today's rapidly changing world, ICT skills are necessary for personal and professional development. Through these trainings, young people not only acquire practical skills, but also strengthen their confidence, which will contribute to future success. UNICEF is actively involved in this important work and is ready to continue supporting the Ministry of Education.
