President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Astana. During the meeting, the sides expressed mutual support of international initiatives proposed by both countries, which are aimed at establishment of solid foundation for harmonious development in XXI century.
It was mentioned that meetings of the Heads of both countries, where actual objectives of bilateral relations are being discussed, are the key element of multilevel political dialog. Huge potential and complementarity of national economies allow two friendly states consolidating cooperation in broad spectrum of directions including trade and economic sector, transport, communication, textile and chemical industry and construction.
Gas industry where successful accomplishment of the project of construction of Turkmenistan – China gas pipeline providing long-term supplies of Turkmen gas to the PRC serves as a symbol of beneficial relations was outlined as a main component of cooperation in energy sphere.
Large potential of cooperation in transport sphere, in particular in railway field, was also mentioned. At the same time, the necessity for activation of cooperation in logistic sphere for improvement of the efficiency of transit corridors connecting China with Europe, Middle East and Mediterranean Regions via Turkmenistan was highlighted.
During the meeting, the sides shared the visions of the prospects of expansion of interstate partnership taking into account the opportunity of intensification of economic relations. In this context, it was emphasized that the main objectives of Turkmenistan participation in EXPO 2017 are popularization of successes achieved by our country, development of trade and economic relations with foreign countries and increase of export volumes of produced goods.
It was mentioned during the meeting that recently, bilateral relations in cultural and humanitarian spheres, particular in educational sphere, are actively developed. At the same time, successful Turkmen – Chinese contacts in sports sphere are also established.
At the end of the meeting, the Heads of two states exchanged good wishes and expressed the confidence in intensification of productive dialog that meets the state interests and priorities of social and economic development of Turkmenistan and China.
