When first getting into with the artwork of Jahan Hanova, there is a persistent conviction that the author of the works is endued with a philosophical view of the world around us.

The fine art fans immediately recognized the artist as an unrivaled master of still life. Jahan Hanova manages to create an original composition from ordinary objects and give it the magic of color nuances. Her works turn out to be not trivial, but fresh, with a recognizable author's style.

A bright Turkmen scarf and robe, decorated with colorful national embroidery, turn into a beautiful background for admiring a stocky pumpkin and angular grenades, located next to ancient jugs and dutar. Do not look for the logic in choosing the characters of a still life. Most likely, the author wanted to say that they are in tune with the Turkmen people’s everyday life.

The still-life painting “Sunflower with Peaches”, the main character of which is an explosive, disheveled and angry sunflower in a blue and gold carafe surrounded by sweet peaches, apples, pears scattered on a tray, is wonderful. The dissonance between a fading sunflower and juicy ripe fruits gives rise to allegories. It seems that the sunflower acts as a guard that protects the fruits entrusted to it. You can treat this picture in a different way, depending on the imagination of a viewer. The main thing is not in logic, but in harmony, underlined by the glare of the blue color of the carafe and the silver tray surrounding the charismatic sunflower.

The still-life painting “Dolls” depicts one big doll with two smaller ones, dressed in lush hooped-skirts with blond curls, as if a mother with daughters from the distant 18th century are on the way to an important aristocratic reception. Perhaps this picture does not bear a special meaning, but this work is so beautiful and the dolls look so effective in the still-life genre.

Upon graduation from Ashgabat Art College, Jahan Hanova studied in the People's Artist studio of Turkmenistan named after Durdy Bayramov, who trained his students based on the programme of Surikov Moscow Art Institute. The study helped Jahan to enter this institute.

Jahan also succeeds in making portraits. The portrait “Girls with attitude” arouses a keen interest among the audience. Each detail in the painting ‘works’ on the image of the heroines: bold look, strong-willed chin, braids with a stubborn bend and even a strongly tight knot on the scarf.

A large number of works devoted to flowers, disclose Jahan Hanova as a successful florist. “Lotus Blossomin”, written in greenish-lilac tones, as if conveys the spicy aroma of warm water, and the plant on the canvas looks feelable.

The picture “Maternity”, made in the form of a circle, attracts special attention. A young mother feeding a child is depicted against a fragment of a yurt and a cradle. Everything in the picture symbolizes eternity, the shape of a circle that has no beginning and end, and a cradle, and a feeding woman ...
