Turkmen delegation took part in WTO training in Geneva

In order to prepare for the negotiation process on the way to joining the World Trade Organization, the Turkmen delegation, which included employees of the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, took part in a training on the specifics of conducting negotiations to enter the goods market. The training was held from 7th to 11th of October in Geneva.

It was also attended by specialists involved in the WTO accession process from Azerbaijan, the Bahamas, Bhutan, Belarus, Iraq, Libya, Somalia and Uzbekistan. The training included lectures, practical assignments, and «roundtable» discussions.

During interactive exercises, participants practiced the effectiveness of negotiations in terms of coordinating the country's positions with partners, taking into account the standard WTO conditions, and discussed the issue of developing clear formulations on obligations on tariffs and services. The negotiation process on the way to joining the World Trade Organization involves a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings on tariffs, agriculture and services.
