The city of Arkadag hosted a scientific-practical conference titled "Kitap – dünýäniň açary", organized by the Dovletmammet Azadi City Library, local departments of culture and education, and the Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
The event aimed to increase the younger generation's interest in books as a source of knowledge and an important educational tool. Participants included children from kindergartens of Arkadag city, schoolchildren, students from secondary vocational institutions and universities, and young professionals from various enterprises and institutions of the city. Speakers discussed the comprehensive work being done in Turkmenistan to educate a well-rounded young generation, improve education, and create all necessary conditions for developing youth talents and abilities. It was emphasized that learning and acquiring new knowledge and technologies is a demand of modern times, with books playing a significant role in this process.
The value of books and the importance of reading are reflected in Turkmen proverbs such as "Bilmeýän zadyňy kitapdan sora" (Ask the book what you do not know) or "Kitap okamaýan görýänini görer, kitap okaýan dünýäni görer" (He who does not read a book sees only what is visible; he who reads sees the whole world). Alongside other national traditions, love for books and a pursuit of education and science have become characteristic traits of the new era of the Turkmen state. Currently, a system of modern libraries with electronic equipment and constantly updated collections has been established nationwide. These libraries allow people, especially youth, to familiarize themselves with new books, stimulating interest in continuous education and research activities.
An exhibition of publishing products and a book quiz involving children and schoolchildren were organized as part of the scientific-practical conference. Children who correctly answered questions prepared by the Arkadag City Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan received works by famous Turkmen writers and fairy tale books.
