On December 3, within the framework of the working visit to Romania of the delegation of the International University of Humanities and Development, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
One of the largest universities in Romania in the field of engineering technology currently has 15 faculties and more than 25,000 students. During the meeting, the Vice-rector of the Polytechnic University, Horia Necula, spoke in detail about the history, structure, academic and international activities of the Romanian university and expressed interest in establishing long-term cooperation with the Turkmen University.
In turn, stressing the importance of this meeting, Vice-Rector of the International University of Humanities and Development N.Shikhliev outlined promising areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, in particular, in the field of information technology. N.Shikhliev noted that in this direction our country is implementing a concept designed until 2025. It represents a Roadmap for the technological transformation of all industries and their public administration, the formation of a knowledge economy based on the country's resource and production potential, organically integrating into the adopted state programs.
Following the meeting, the parties planned to explore the possibilities of developing a draft double diploma program in the 1+1 system in the field of computer technology, as well as to intensify work in other areas of mutual interest.
In the afternoon, Vice-Rector IUHD, as well as representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, visited the Oil and Gas University of Ploiesti. At a meeting with the Rector of the Romanian University, Alin Dinica, the parties discussed issues of expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of education.
Alin Dinitsa expressed interest in developing cooperation and identified the following areas as its areas: academic education, research and science, exchange of students and teachers. The Rector also informed about the experience of implementing the Erasmus+ program, offering to establish cooperation in this direction. It should be noted that the Oil and Gas University of Ploiesti, founded in 1948, is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Romania with the necessary infrastructure and technological capabilities. The University has 5 faculties: the Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Petroleum Technology and Petrochemistry, the Faculty of Economic Sciences, the Faculty of Literature and Science in Romanian, English, French and German. During the meeting, Vice-Rector IUHD highlighted in detail the activities of the Turkmen university, and also reported on the initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at improving youth policy in the state.
In the context of cooperation between the two universities, the Turkmen side invited professors and students of the Oil and Gas University of Ploiesti to participate in the international Mathematics Olympiad held by IUHD in the first half of 2025. The participants of the meeting noted the importance of the Olympiads as a tool for bringing together academic circles, establishing friendship and peace between countries. In conclusion, the parties agreed to explore the possibilities of intensifying bilateral contacts, including by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, as well as the organization of joint events, conferences and the exchange of online lectures on topics of interest.
