Annadurdy Almamedov the People's Artist of Turkmenistan gave the opportunity to numerous admirers of fine arts, colleagues and students in his 80th anniversary to make an excursion into the stylistically and coloristically rich world of his work. More than 300 paintings by the master of painting made up a personal exhibition in the exhibition hall of the Academy of Arts.

Being a native of the mountain Bendesen village (nowadays Serdar etrap), the artist grew up in the edge of the mountains and poppies. In the spring, the wild flowers covered the hilly landscape with a scarlet carpet. Beauty is such that it captures the spirit! "Being born in this wonderful place I just could not help becoming an artist," says the jubilee. In spite of the fact five children lost their father early, Annadurdy Almamedovich recalls his childhood with a smile. He inhaled clean and heady air of the mountains and admired the picturesqueness of his native land while helping the elder brother to graze the flock of collective-farm sheep.

The Almamedov family moved to Kizilarvat (now Serdar) in 1948. The forthcoming eleven-year-old boy became a frequent guest of the orphanage children, among whom was a well-known painter Durdi Bayramov. The boys became friends and spent long hours together, playing football, drawing. The common passion that determined their life motto and a strong friendship tied together artists for the whole life.

In 1954, they entered the Art College named after. Shota Rustaveli, however, on different departments. Annadurdy Almamedov began to comprehend the secrets of scenography. The boy from the provincial town had never been to the theater. It was difficult for him to understand what his future profession really consisted of. Immersion in the atmosphere of scenic action began with a visit to the theater of opera and ballet for the play "Prince Igor". The teacher Petr Kondratievich Ershov, who created the scenery for the play, led him by. Annadurdy Almamedov was delighted. The theater fascinated him. He worked on performances with great enthusiasm common to characteristic of young people.

Annadurdy Almamedovich decided to link his destiny to the stage once and forever and after graduating from the school he entered the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute named after A.N. Ostrovsky. Then he worked as the main artist of the Young Spectator Theater. The author's sketches for a number of productions occupy separate section of the exhibition. The artist was awarded prizes, diplomas, certificates of honor for many of them ... But the moment came when the set design moved aside, giving way to easel painting. There was a need to express feelings and attitude on canvas. Moreover, he had something to share - because he is from places where the most beautiful mountains and poppies. He enthusiastically writes one picture after another with his inherent assertiveness.

As the art historian Altynjemal Bailiyeva correctly noted, the work of Annadurdy Almamedov has one feature - it is not edifying. He does not scourge any public vices; he does not call to live like that but not otherwise. His citizenship is in inexhaustible love for his native land. One of the mountain landscapes of the artist is called "Legend", however, this name can be given to all the mountains he wrote. Annadurdy Almamedov does not go into the description of specific details of the mountain landscape but presents it as he feels, from this his letter resembles an applied genre rather than a real one. This can be traced the experience of the set designer. Almamedov's paintings are inherent in a harmonious, life-affirming palette and it vividly characterizes the artist himself.

One of the mountain landscapes the author gave the name - "Mountains that saw Fragi". In this title "Mountains that saw Makhtumkuli Fragi" incarnated the artist's admiration for the great poet. Nevertheless our presence in these places is accompanied by a controlled thought that Makhtumkuli being here for many time, also admired the amazing beauty of the lunar mountains and no elsewise.

Even "Portrait of a mother" the artist did not painted on the background of a carpet or a pomegranate tree but against the background of mountains, thereby emphasizing his genetic connection with a small homeland. Among the pictures of the portrait genre are especially good "Portrait of Chara Ovezov" and "Portrait of an Old Afghan" (from the series "Journey through Afghanistan"). Both characters look so realistic that it seems that Chary Ovezov is about to change the pose and the pausing Afghan old man will continue the way in a second.

The painter often turns to floristry; he has beautiful bouquets of "curly bunches" of lilacs and piercing blue bells, as well as slender, refined irises. Blazing poppies occupy a special place in his work. The artist, probably, once referred to the image of this most beautiful field flower and has never been repeated. Here, a magnificent bouquet, where each flower is admired, and on another canvas - as if surprised by the increased attention, looking at the next work, it seems that the fatigue of the flower head is inclined to sleep ...

Along with his work, Annamurdi Almamedovich is actively involved in pedagogical activities. Immediately after graduating from the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute, he began teaching at an art school. The mentoring mission with the opening of the Academy of Arts continues there. Many of his pupils are now well-known painters. Many times the People's Artist of Turkmenistan Annadurdy Almamedov exhibits his works in the combined expositions, which cause the audience's increased interest in the opportunity to observe how the experience and talent of the teacher in the work of his students is refracted.
