On March 25-26, 2025, President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Allaberdy Ashirov took part in the Global Ministerial Dialogue on Science Diplomacy, held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The dialogue was organized within the framework of the International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development (2024–2033) and brought together ministers, diplomats and leading scientists from around the world to discuss the role of science diplomacy in addressing global challenges, strengthening international cooperation and advancing the principles of sustainable development. The event was held under the theme “Science diplomacy in a rapidly changing world: Building peace in the minds of men and women”. During the sessions, participants considered key issues related to scientific cooperation, access to scientific data, research safety, and the use of science as a tool for peaceful dialogue.
Upon the results of the meeting, the Joint Ministerial Statement was adopted.
Turkmenistan, pursuing an active policy in the field of science and technology, attaches great importance to international cooperation in the field of scientific diplomacy. The country is implementing initiatives aimed at developing science as an important element of sustainable development, which corresponds to the global goals of UNESCO.
