A concert of symphonic music was held with great success at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater. The State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, led by the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Resul Gylyjov, performed for fans of serious music.
The concert program opened with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's overture to the opera "The Abduction from the Seraglio." It sounded with a fairy-tale motif, foreshadowing the exciting story that unfolded in the opera.
Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 23" is perhaps his most famous and most frequently performed work. It continued the evening's program. The soloist was the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Vladimir Mkrtumov, who virtuosically performed this piece.
The pianist performed another Mozart piece, "Fantasies," outside the program. This was his gift to the audience. And the audience generously thanked the maestro with flowers and applause.
Works by Modest Mussorgsky, Sergei Prokofiev, and Alexander Borodin were also performed from the stage.
To conclude the program, the musicians of the Symphony Orchestra also performed Mozart's "Turkish March" outside the program. Conductor Resul Gylyjov managed not only the orchestra but also the audience in the hall, who, upon hearing the bright and bravura music of the march, clapped their hands in perfect rhythm.
Resul Gylyjov thanked the listeners for the wonderful evening they spent together and confessed that this project was an exam for the musicians, which they... "Passed!" the audience chimed in.
