On April 2, 2025, a presentation of the book by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Magtymguly – the Sage of the World” was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. The event was organized by the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan in Vienna in the frames of the celebration of the National Spring Holiday – International Day of Novruz. The presentation was attended by ambassadors, permanent representatives accredited to the UN in Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, as well as students from Turkmenistan, Austria and other countries currently studying at Austrian universities.
During the event, it was highlighted about the special significance of the presentation, which took place in the context of the 300th anniversary of the great poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fragi. It was noted that in 2024, in honor of this significant date, a wide range of commemorative events had been launched, which continue to be held in accordance with the decision of UNESCO to include the 300th anniversary of the poet in the List of Holidays for 2024-2025.
During the speeches, the relevance and value of the book in the further study and international recognition of Magtymguly's legacy was noted. It was emphasized that the publication reflects not only the scientific researches devoted to the study of Magtymguly's life and oeuvre, but also the timeless wisdom of his poems calling for peace, unity and respect among nations.
The participants also particularly emphasized that the humanistic ideas of Makhtumkuli lie in the basis of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives, including the United Nations General Assembly Resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The presentation concluded with a special stand organized by the Embassy and the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, where guests had the opportunity to become acquainted with the publication in three languages - Turkmen, Russian and English.
