A delegation from Turkmenistan, along with representatives of customs services from five Central Asian countries, took part in a regional workshop on the effective use of technical equipment in customs control. The event took place from April 8 to 10 in Astana.
The workshop was organized as part of Component 3 of the Border Management Programme in Central Asia "Facilitation of Trade." The purpose of the workshop was to enhance administrative capacity and increase the competencies of staff responsible for planning equipment supplies.
Experts from Latvia presented to participants the life cycle of equipment, advanced practices of European Union countries in procurement, and the process of preparing technical specifications. They also conducted practical exercises on modeling technical requirements, discussed approaches to user training and maintaining uninterrupted equipment operation. Effective and swift customs control measures are important elements in facilitating trade, while modern technologies and their proper application ensure the stability of processes.
The three-day regional workshop was organized and contributed to strengthening interaction between countries in the region, exchanging experiences, and implementing modern solutions in the customs sphere.
