The World Education Forum 2025 continues its work in London (Education World Forum), organized from 18 to 21 May. The event is attended by representatives of the education sector from more than 100 countries around the world. Turkmenistan is represented at the forum by a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev.

Within the framework of the forum, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a series of bilateral negotiations with leading international educational organizations and technology companies.

During a meeting with Nick Davis, President for the Middle East and the international agency Times Higher Education (THE), a recognized world leader in the field of academic rankings, discussed issues of expanding the participation of Turkmen universities in the international academic ecosystem.

It was emphasized that the universities of our country are actively working to improve their efficiency by implementing internal monitoring systems. 

The Innovation Information Center of the Ministry of Education Turkmenistan has created a platform that allows online track the achievements of all universities, analyze the results of faculties, departments and teachers. As a result, over the past five years, the number of publications by teachers of Turkmen universities in indexed scientific journals has increased by more than 95 times, which is a significant indicator of the growth of the country's scientific potential.

Speaking about the work on a new Strategy for the development of higher education Turkmenistan until 2052, it was noted that the methodology of planning the development of higher education complies with international standards. The Agency expressed its willingness to familiarize with the conducted research in various countries on the formation of strategies for the development of higher education. It was also proposed to hold online seminars for Turkmen universities to improve their positions in international rankings, as well as webinars, analytical consultations, and training programs on methods for evaluating and positioning universities in the global academic space.

A productive meeting was held with Arek Yavorsky, Director of Education in the Central and Eastern Europe and CIS region of the company Pearson is a global leader in educational content and international certification, collaborating with more than 75 governments and thousands of educational institutions around the world. The main topic of the meeting was the issues of international certification and the introduction of modern diagnostic and evaluation tools.  

The practice of Pearson VUE testing centers in various countries and their impact on the quality of education in general were discussed. Company informed about the specifics of the introduction of digital educational resources and diagnostic platforms, as well as the implementation of teacher training programs based on international standards.

There was also a meeting with Chris Hart, a representative of Google for Education is the direction of Google, which provides educational institutions with digital tools in more than 190 countries around the world.

The company introduced the integration capabilities of Google for solutions Education in the education system of Turkmenistan. Representatives Google expressed willingness to organize training events and provide technical support. Special attention was paid to the possibilities of centralized device management and monitoring of activity by educational institutions.

At a meeting with Evgenia Yarina, Executive Director for Public Partnerships at Coursera, a global online learning platform working with more than 300 universities and companies, specific proposals for cooperation were discussed. The possibilities of localization of materials and integration of the analytical data of the platform into educational planning were considered. Coursera expressed its willingness provide information on research on the formation of methodological recommendations for the preparation of effective educational content.

The meetings confirmed the high interest of international partners in cooperation with Turkmenistan and strengthening its position in the global educational space.

In general, on the sidelines of the forum, participants discussed the creation of inclusive, sustainable and effective education systems. Apple has introduced the latest approaches to implementing digital solutions in the educational process.

The delegates were particularly attracted by the speech of Andreas Schleicher, Director of the OECD Department of Education and Skills, who presented the results of international research on the use of technology in education.

The speakers presented the results of an analysis of the impact of digital technologies on the quality of education. It was noted that in Within the framework of the conducted research and pilot projects, the best effect was recorded when observing a moderate and thoughtful approach to the introduction of ICT — when technologies complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods. Among the countries whose models of digital education were cited as successful examples are Singapore, South Korea and Finland.

The forum, which is being held with the participation of delegations from dozens of countries, is an effective platform for expanding international educational cooperation and exchange of best practices in the context of digital transformation of education.
