The International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific and practical conference entitled “Biotechnology – a promising area”. The event brought together leading specialists from scientific and educational institutions of the country to discuss key aspects of biotechnology development and its practical application.

During the conference, numerous reports were presented covering a wide range of topical issues. Participants discussed issues of modern biotechnological education for schoolchildren, studied the features of reproduction of valuable medicinal plants of Kopetdag using the in vitro method, and also examined the role of modern biotechnology in various industries .

Special attention was paid to innovations in the food industry, including technologies for obtaining lyophilized products, as well as the synthesis of important vitamins from natural raw materials. The antibacterial properties of nanomaterials, methods for extracting valuable substances from local plants, issues of using new building materials and the environmental significance of using waste in production were also discussed.

The high level of the presented works and the active participation of representatives of leading universities and research centers of Turkmenistan indicate the dynamic development of the biotechnology sector in the country. Given the strategic role of biotechnology in the modern world, its development is one of the priorities of state policy, which is emphasized in the "Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the comprehensive development of biotechnology in the country for 2024-2028".
