As part of the participation in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva on June 5, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). This is reported by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan, M. Sylapov, discussed with the Secretary General of the IOE, Roberto Suarez-Santos, ways to expand cooperation, including technical support and the involvement of national employers in international processes. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness for further cooperation with the IOE, emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and active participation of business in the reform of the social sphere.
During the meeting with the head of the ITUC, Luc Triangle, the emphasis was placed on the development of a trilateral partnership between the state, employers and trade unions. Steps to further expand the dialogue, including possible membership of Turkmenistan's trade unions in the ITUC, were discussed. The activity of national trade unions in international and regional formats, as well as their participation in shaping the country's social policy, was noted.
On the eve of June 4, during the plenary session of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), M. Sylapov emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of decent work, social justice and partnership. The Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population noted the relevance of the ILO's global agenda and its compliance with the strategic directions outlined in the National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan until 2052.
