16-year-old Ashgabat resident Aslan Agadadayev won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Asian Championship among boys under 17 years old, which ended in the Vietnamese city of Vung Tau. The 11th-grade student of the Turkmen-Turkish secondary school achieved this success in the weight category up to 110 kg, in which the title of the strongest was contested by 9 sportsmen.
In the first fight at the 1/4 final stage, A. Agadadayev lost to H. Hardeep (India) - 1:5, and then in a tough fight for bronze he won against Umar Ormanov from Kyrgyzstan and rose to the third step of the podium. The second bronze medal in this weight category went to Abduboriy Kozimjonov (Uzbekistan), who won the match for 3rd place against Japanese Howei Sakamoto - 5:4. The Asian Champion was Indian wrestler H. Hardeep, who won the final against Chuanqi Wei (China) – 5:0.
Aslan Agadadayev's bronze medal was the fifth for the Turkmenistan team at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Vietnam. Earlier, at the Asian Youth Championships among sportsmen under 23, the Turkmen team won four medals - three in freestyle wrestling and one in Greco-Roman.
In freestyle wrestling, the silver medal in the weight category up to 79 kg was awarded to the first-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Alp Arslan Begenjov, and the bronze medals were awarded to the first-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction Vatan Annaorazov (up to 74 kg) and the third-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Soltan Sanjar Begenjov (up to 86 kg).
In Greco-Roman wrestling, the bronze medal in the weight category up to 72 kg was won by the second-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports Didar Orazberdiyev.
