Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals at the Asian Championship in wrestling among cadets under 15 years old, which took place in Bishkek. This success was achieved by a 9th-grade student of Ashgabat Secondary School № 9 Meret Durdyyev and a 9th-grade student of the capital's «Olimp» Sports School Jeyhun Hakberdiyev.
Meret Durdyyev won the bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in the weight category up to 44 kg, in which medals were contested by 9 athletes. In the first fight at the 1/4 final stage, he won against Jiwon Park (Republic of Korea) - 10:0, then in the semi-finals he lost to Aaryan Aaryan (India) - 0:10, and in the fight for bronze he won Hun Beom Ri from the DPRK and rose to the third step of the podium.
The second bronze medal went to Japanese Ken Furusawa, who won the fight for 3rd place over Husan Anorboyev (Uzbekistan) - 3:2. The silver medalist was Adilet Mukanbetov (Kyrgyzstan), and the gold medalist was Aaryan Aaryan (India), who won the final with a score of 16:6.
Jeyhun Hakberdiyev achieved bronze success in the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 52 kg, in which the title of the strongest was contested by 9 athletes. On the way to the podium, he first lost to Samga Ermek (Kazakhstan) in the quarterfinals - 0:10, and then in the fight for 3rd place he defeated Shivananda Yadav (India) and became the owner of the bronze medal.
The second bronze medalist was Chong Rui Li from Taiwan, who defeated Naoto Nozaki (Japan) with a score of 8:1. Samandar Ugli Madaminov (Uzbekistan) climbed to the second step of the podium, and Samga Ermek (Kazakhstan) became the Asian champion, having won the final with a score of 8:0.
