On the 21st of August, in Ashgabat, within the framework of the international exhibition and fair «Kids Expo: Everything for Children», a mental arithmetic competition was held among schoolchildren.
The competition, organised jointly by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Central Council of the Youth Organisation named after Magtymguly, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the training centre «Kämil bili»", was attended by about 120 schoolchildren aged 6 to 14 from all over the country. One of the guests of honour was Melik Duyar, the founder of the organisation «Mega Hafyza» and one of the founders of the World Federation of Intellectual Sports MEMORIAD. He is also an international judge.

The schoolchildren competed in a mental arithmetic marathon, which lasted 45-50 minutes and identified the most talented. As a result, the students of the branch of the educational centre «Kämil bilim» located in the city of Turkmenabat won 12 medals, the students of the capital centre - 7 medals, the students of the branch in the city of Balkanabat - 2 medals. The students of the educational centre «Altyn Göreç» located in the city of Mary and the educational centre «Bilim Güzeri» in Bayramaly won one medal each. Mekan Nurgeldiyev, a student of secondary specialised school № 41 in the city of Turkmenabat, Aly Orashov, a student of secondary specialised school № 22 with in-depth study of English, physics and mathematics in the city of Balkanabat, and Aygul Yusupova, a student of secondary specialised school № 9 with in-depth study of foreign languages in the city of Turkmenabat distinguished themselves.

Three schoolchildren set world records. Thus, in the Quick Flash Anzan category, Aly Orashov demonstrated the ability to add 150 alternating two-digit numbers at a speed of 0.3 seconds. He set a world record by calculating the correct result 5 times in a row.
In the category for the fastest addition from memory, Rovach Begenjov, a student of Secondary Specialised School № 38 in Turkmenabat, distinguished himself. He set a world record by correctly adding 100 single-digit numbers in random order and showing the correct result 3 times in a row.

The fastest multiplication by heart was demonstrated by Mekan Batyrov, a student of Secondary Specialised School № 3 with in-depth study of foreign languages in Balkanabat. He set a world record for quickly and correctly multiplying eight-digit numbers by eight-digit numbers 10 times from memory.
At the end of the competition, the organisers ceremoniously presented the participants and winners with memorable gifts and certificates. Turkmen schoolchildren who set world records also received certificates from the World Mind Sports Federation MEMORIAD.
