The "Saglyk" Program — a key vector in the development of Turkmenistan’s healthcare

The International Year of Peace and Trust coincided with important events in the history of our country. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the approval of the State Program "Saglyk," initiated by Hero Arkadag.

Due to the successful implementation of the program over the years of independence, great progress has been made in protecting public health, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and developing physical culture and sports.

Significant achievements have been reached in the development of the healthcare infrastructure. Modern medical centers have been built, new hospitals and health houses opened, and the material and technical base modernized. The health system and medical industry continue to develop consistently. The range of domestic medications is expanding, including medicinal teas and drugs made from local raw materials.

A priority area is the protection of mothers’ and children’s health, reflected in the creation of modern international medical centers. A large-scale example of transformation is the construction of a modern medical cluster in the "smart" city of Arkadag.

A key role in implementing the "Saglyk" program is played by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. The Foundation provides comprehensive aid to children in need: financing complex surgeries and treatments, supporting their health recovery, assisting medical institutions and orphanages, and providing humanitarian aid.

Within the scope of large-scale transformations, the Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center, as well as Dental and International Pediatric Centers, are being built in the capital. The construction of modern facilities in the regions is also planned.

The entire set of large-scale transformations carried out under the State Program "Saglyk" finds further development in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state. Turkmenistan is expanding multifaceted cooperation with international partners and relevant UN structures, including the WHO, offering new directions for scientific diplomacy.

For the prompt exchange of experience and implementation of advanced global methods, modern technologies such as digital communications and telemedicine are actively applied, serving as a reliable foundation for further strengthening citizens’ health and achieving the set goals.
