At the «Ashgabat» cinema of the capital hosted the premiere screening of the documentaries «Wise turkmen Magtymguly» and «City of the future Arkadag». The event was organised by the Representative office of the Turkish state broadcaster TRT in Turkmenistan.
The films, produced by the international Turkish television channel TRT Avaz in honour of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and 30th anniversary of neutrality, combined the country's historical roots with its contemporary development.
The premiere was attended by distinguished guests, including Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok and other representatives of diplomatic missions. The first audience members were employees of the «Oguzhan» Turkmenfilm Association, members of the press, and students, who showed keen interest in the films.
A film about Magtymguly, through the great Turkmen poet, reveals the spiritual world of the Turkmen people, while a film about Turkmenistan's first «smart» city embodies the idea of unity between people and the city, demonstrating an example of a unique urban space that harmoniously combines historical heritage and modern technology.
According to Ugur Sami Gezer, head of the TRT office in Turkmenistan, TRT's goal is to unite historical memory and a vision of the future through film projects. He emphasised that the television company strives to present Turkmenistan's cultural, artistic, scientific, sports, and economic life to an international audience. This is achieved through multilingual and accessible digital broadcasting, as well as by strengthening cooperation with Turkmen media organisations.
Both films are part of the large-scale creative project «Atavatan Turkmenistan». Previously, this initiative featured the documentaries «Pearl City Ashgabat», created for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and the 140th anniversary of the founding of the capital, «In the footsteps of the Great Seljuks: The Capital Merv», and «Konurgench».
Continuing to highlight the cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic peoples, the TRT team also created the short documentaries «Nejmeddin Kubra», «The Radiance of the Garagum Desert», and «Spiritual sultans of Merv».
In his welcoming remarks, Annasahet Kakayev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting, and Cinematography, expressed hope for further development of cooperation with TRT. He noted that future plans include the joint development of new broadcast programs, documentaries, and content for digital platforms. The importance of internships for young Turkmen journalists and cameramen in Türkiye and visits by TRT specialists to Turkmenistan to expand areas of cooperation were also emphasised.
The motto of TRT Avaz is «Unity in language, thought, and work», which is of particular significance for the Turkic world. Within this framework, TRT Avaz works to preserve and disseminate the cultural and historical heritage of the turkic peoples, including Turkmenistan.
