Cotton fields in the north of the country to be sown with medium fibrous species

More than 19,000 tons of high-quality seeds have been prepared for the coming spring sowing of cotton in Dashoguz Region. All seeding material has been tested in laboratories of relative services for compliance with set parameters in germination, class, species purity and other characteristics. The seeds are well protected from diseases, pests and weed owing to special treatment.

The demand on sock production from Turkmenistan grows abroad

The Akar Tekstil business entity may become a big exporter in its production line. The production of the company, which is located in Ak Bugday district, Ahal Region, includes 15 variety of men, women and children socks from natural cotton and mixed fabrics with lycra and is on high demand in the country and abroad.

Preparations for Potato Planting Well Underway in Northern Region

Almost one third of the total area devoted to potato production in Gurbansoltan-eje etrap, Dashoguz velayat this year will be used by private entrepreneurs with 350 hectares of farmland now allocated from the special agricultural land fund created in N. Andalyp Daikhan Association.

Relying on Accumulated Practical Experience

This year, over 4,000 hectares of farmland will be committed to grain legumes and sesame seeds in Dashoguz velayat. The larger proportion of the area (3, 700 hectares) will be under mung bean cultivation again.  Last year, the local farmers gained valuable practical experience in growing mung beans on a large scale as a catch crop after winter wheat, having produced an abundant crop of 5,500-plus tons of the legume, which needs little water and has potential to improve soil fertility. This year’s mung bean yield is estimated to be no less than 150 kg per hectare.

Orders to Be Completed on Time

Hundreds of weavers have begun to carry out state orders at the country’s largest Art Carpet Factory in Khalach, Lebap velayat. As a TDH correspondent was informed, exquisite handmade Turkmen carpets of different sizes are now being made at the enterpirse at an accelerated pace. They will be used as interior decorations for Türkmeniň Ak Öýi buildings, which are now under construction in the administrative centers of Lebap, Dashoguz, and Balkan velayats. The carpet designs boast distinctive characteristics of each region.

Russia’s Tatneft Offers a Wider Spectrum of Services

Russia’s oil company Tatneft has launched a tubing repair bay in Balkanabat offering services to Türkmennebit State Concern and other companies in Turkmenistan. The services include cleaning operations, disconnecting and connecting coupling joints, inspections and tubing thread cutting, hydrotesting, marking and final inspections. At present, the repair bay has a capacity of up to 12 oilwell tubes per hour; it can be increased twofold, if necessary, without any extra capital costs.

Economically Important Crop

Barley is one of the major crops grown in the northern region of Turkmenistan. This year, the total barley area in Dashoguz Velayat stands at 1,000 hectares with almost a quarter of it in S. Turkmenbashi etrap. Kounyaurgench and Akdepe etraps, where farmers have gained considerable experience in growing barley, will continue to be big producers of the crop in the region, as well.
