Dmitry Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, met with entrepreneurs from Mary velayat within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET).
The dialogue with the heads of major local enterprises, the companies “Täze Aý” and “Gerçek”, focused on exploring ways to integrate sustainable business practices to foster innovation and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The participants emphasized the strategic importance of the regional private sector as a potential catalyst for sustainable development that takes into account environmental factors and social responsibility. This contributes to economic stability, the diversification of products, and the creation of new jobs.

“Täze Aý”, founded in 2004, has over the past two decades, become an undisputed leader in the country’s food market. Today, the group of companies is one of the largest producers of sausage products, confectionery, dairy items, and meat semi-finished products, offering consumers hundreds of types of food products.
“Täze Aý” operates several specialized factories employing more than a thousand highly qualified specialists. All products are certified in accordance with international quality and safety standards and also comply with the Halal standard. This ensures high demand for “Täze Aý” products in the domestic market and enables their successful export to countries such as the Russian Federation, PRC, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, thereby strengthening Turkmenistan’s export potential.
For its part, “Gerçek”, one of the country’s leading footwear manufacturers, has demonstrated impressive growth dynamics. Initially consisting of a single workshop, the company now includes more than ten high-tech divisions.

The significant increase in the number of jobs indicates active development. Currently, hundreds of highly skilled workers are employed at the enterprise. Thanks to equipment modernization and the expansion of production facilities, the company’s technical capacity allows it to produce millions of pairs of shoes annually.
In addition to traditional footwear types, “Gerçek” has mastered the production of specialized shoes for medical institutions, rubber boots, and school backpacks, demonstrating its ability to quickly respond to market demand and offer innovative products.
Dmitry Shlapachenko emphasized the importance of further cooperation between the United Nations and Turkmenistan’s commercial sector to stimulate innovation, create jobs, and achieve sustainable development within the framework of the 2030 Agenda.
Thanks to comprehensive state support, Turkmenistan’s entrepreneurs continue to actively develop, expand their production capacities, and explore new markets. The private sector of Mary velayat, represented by leading manufacturers, serves not only as the foundation of the region’s economic well-being but also as a reliable partner in implementing Turkmenistan’s international commitments toward achieving the SDGs.
