This can be judged by the fact that local markets this summer and autumn offered buyers a wide variety of fresh berries grown in the region at fairly low prices. Peaches also became cheaper this year, with the price drop linked to an increase in supply from local producers. Residents of the velayat associate this with the significant development of horticulture in the region. Its steady progress has been facilitated by the state’s policy of reforming the national agro-industrial complex, as well as by the creation of all necessary conditions for productive work based on careful treatment of nature and the rational use of its abundant resources.

A considerable role in the development of horticulture has also been played by special agricultural land funds, from which many private individuals and legal entities have received land plots for use for a period of 99 years. Part of these plots has been allocated for the production of fruit and vegetable products, including the cultivation of perennial trees and vineyards.

In recent years, interest in horticulture has noticeably grown not only in rural areas but also in the city, where various fruit and vegetable crops are grown for personal consumption and sale in the yards of private houses. Some private greenhouse farms also allocate part of their open area for planting fruit trees.

All this, taken together, contributes to the fact that the region’s annually grown abundant harvests of apples, pears, plums, cherry plums, sweet cherries, and sour cherries make it possible to meet the demand for fresh vitamin-rich produce and to maintain affordable prices for it throughout the year.
