The S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University hosted an International Scientific and Practical Online Conference titled “Sustainable Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex.” The event was organized by the university in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

Professors, scholars, lecturers, researchers, and students from higher educational and scientific institutions of Turkmenistan and foreign countries — including China, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Iran, Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, and Malaysia — took part in the conference.

Before the opening of the conference, participants visited an exhibition held at the university, featuring products of the national agro-industrial complex, scientific achievements in various branches of agriculture, and successful national projects contributing to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The exhibition also showcased the best scientific and project works by young participants of the contest “Educated Youth – the Future of the Country,” organized by S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan in honor of the Harvest Festival.

Speakers at the plenary session emphasized that, in the International Year of Peace and Trust, on the eve of the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality and the Harvest Festival, the organization of the international conference “Sustainable Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex” and the issues discussed during it are of special importance.

The work of the conference continued in three sections:

1. Agronomy, Horticulture, and Ecology

2. Economics and Management in the Agro-Industrial Complex; Humanities, Mathematical Sciences, and Agroengineering

3. Innovative Technologies in the Food Industry and Water Management; Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine; Light Industry

The conference provided participants with broad opportunities for an in-depth discussion of training future specialists in key areas of the agro-industrial sector. The event also served as an effective platform for exchanging professional views on scientific issues and challenges related to ensuring food security and achieving sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex — one of the key conditions for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.
