Public transport services have significantly improved in Turkmenistan

The XVIII International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Türkmentel – 2025” as well as the International Conference and Expo “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development – 2025” opened on November 12 in Ashgabat.

At the forum, Mekan Yovbasarov, a specialist in motor transport from the Ministry of Automobile Transport of Turkmenistan, shared with a “GA” correspondent how the quality of transport services for the country’s citizens has improved.

According to the ministry representative, the Ministry has purchased about 700 buses and a batch of electric buses from the Chinese company Yutong, which are now operating in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, as well as electric vehicles for taxi services.

As M. Yovbasarov noted, residents and visitors of the “smart” city of Arkadag have the opportunity to use urban transport that meets the strictest environmental standards and operates based on modern technologies.

“The new electric buses and electric taxis provide high-quality and cultured service in the ‘smart’ city. They feature a QR code option for using applications such as “Duralga” and “Ynamly taksi”. Terminals for cashless fare payments and online bookings are also provided. Dedicated lanes for public transport on highways create additional convenience for passengers,” said our interlocutor.

M. Yovbasarov also added that the electric buses are equipped with special mobile software that includes information about routes, and the arrival times of vehicles at their destinations.
