The Turkmen-Uzbek Border trade centre is a symbol of friendship and cooperation

Recently, an important step in strengthening economic ties between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took place: the launch of the «Shavat-Dashoguz» joint border trade zone. This event was the result of joint efforts by the leaders of two countries aimed at developing mutually beneficial cooperation and expanding trade turnover.

The joint trade zone covers a total area of six hectares, of which three hectares are allocated to the Uzbek sector and three hectares to the Turkmen sector.

The indoor shopping pavilion will accommodate 112 shopping arcades and 28 specialised stores offering a wide range of goods. An additional 16 retail outlets will be located in two separate blocks. Products manufactured in Uzbekistan will be exported to Turkmenistan, and goods produced in Turkmenistan will be exported to Uzbekistan, facilitating the development of entrepreneurship and strengthening trade and economic ties between the two countries.

One of the advantages of the new zone is its simplified trade regime. A modern customs post equipped with the latest technology ensures convenient and transparent movement of goods and people across the border. Citizens of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan can enter the border trade zone visa-free, strengthening friendly ties and economic cooperation.

The trade zone is equipped with modern infrastructure, including retail pavilions, warehouses, and container storage facilities. The «One-Stop-Shop» centre provides a full range of services, including customs, tax, and certification, making it easier to do business. Banking services, currency exchange offices, hotels, and medical facilities are also available to ensure a comfortable stay for entrepreneurs and visitors.

Construction of the «Shavat-Dashoguz» zone, which began in October 2022, is seen as a strategic platform for increasing trade turnover, promoting national products, and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and economic growth in both countries.
