A rich harvest of tomatoes is being grown in a modern greenhouse belonging to the individual enterprise “Ahmet Haýdar”, located on the territory of the “Watan” daikhan association of Charjev etrap in Lebap velayat. The enterprise is a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The greenhouse, commissioned in 2018, covers an area of 3 hectares and employs about 40 specialists.
Whereas tomato seedlings used to be purchased ready-made, the enterprise has now established its own seed-based propagation. In August, 70,000 seedlings were planted in the greenhouse. Due to proper care, a rich harvest was obtained at an early stage.
Equipping the greenhouse with innovative technologies makes it possible to automatically carry out, via computers, such tasks as feeding tomato seedlings, air exchange in the greenhouse, and maintaining a stable temperature regime. The installation of powerful water-pumping and purification equipment manufactured in the Netherlands ensures uninterrupted irrigation of the plants. It is also worth noting the construction of backup water reservoirs with a capacity of 50,000 liters each. The facility conducts regular monitoring of the formation of the plants’ root systems, their growth, and yield using specialized equipment. One of the main features of this modern greenhouse is that tomato seedlings are planted in containers filled with coconut fiber imported from Sri Lanka.
For pollination during the flowering period, bumblebees specially brought from Turkiye are used, which helps produce fruits of uniform size and high quality.
Clear organization of work at the greenhouse complex of the individual enterprise “Ahmet Haýdar” and strict adherence to agrotechnical standards make it possible to grow abundant harvests: on average, 12 kg per plant and about 230 tons of high-quality, environmentally friendly tomatoes per hectare.
Harvesting began in November of the current year. To date, the volume of harvested produce has exceeded 130 tons. Overall, by June of next year, the enterprise plans to harvest about 700 tons of tomatoes. At present, 33% of the harvested crop has been supplied to domestic markets. The products are also exported to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan. It should be particularly noted that the plastic containers intended for packaging the tomatoes are manufactured at the enterprise itself.
All conditions have been created for work and full-fledged rest for the employees of the individual enterprise “Ahmet Haýdar”, most of whom are young people.
