A ceremonial celebration of Father’s Day was held at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ashgabat. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Iran to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani, students of the center studying the Persian language, their teachers, residents of the capital, representatives of the public, and the media.
Father’s Day is a national holiday in Iran. It was established in honor of the birthday of Hazrat Ali and is traditionally celebrated as a tribute of respect to the head of the family.

As part of the celebration, special attention was given to the fact that the peoples of Iran and Turkmenistan are united by deep historical roots and shared fundamental values. Among the key ones are reverence for parents, continuity of generations, and the careful preservation of family traditions.
The festive evening program included the recitation of poems, humorous skits, and the performance of songs in Persian, Turkmen, Russian, and English.

In the final part of the celebration, commemorative gifts were presented to guests of honor, active participants of the event, and audience members named Ali, Zohre, and Fatima.
Ambassador Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and the entire brotherly people on the New Year 2026 — “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” He expressed gratitude to the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan for organizing the ceremonial event and also spoke in detail about the spiritual significance of this ancient holiday.

“Respect for ancestors is one of the shared moral and cultural values that have existed between the peoples of Iran and Turkmenistan since ancient times. If we imagine the family as a building, then the father is its support and its roof. His presence gives spiritual strength and inspiration to family members. A father is a person who withstands life’s trials and protects peace in the home. A father’s love is often expressed not in words, but in deeds,” said the head of the diplomatic mission.

In turn, the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abdolreza Abbasi, emphasized that the role and significance of the father in the culture of Turkmenistan are also very high. This role is determined by the national customs of the Turkmen people, where one of the most important and noble traditions is respect for one’s parents and for all elderly people.
