This year, the widespread emergence of winter wheat seedlings gives grain growers of Dashoguz velayat grounds to hope for good final results. At present, they are carrying out the necessary agrotechnical measures as part of crop maintenance. Over the years, high-yielding wheat varieties “Alekseevich” and “Bezostaya-100” have been occupying an increasingly large share of the sown areas. Over the past several years, these varieties have proven themselves well under local conditions.

Before being introduced into large-scale production, these varieties underwent preliminary testing on experimental plots, where they demonstrated high results across all key parameters. According to specialists, the varieties are characterized by resistance to lodging and over-ripening on the stalk, to various diseases and unstable climatic conditions; they are highly productive and possess excellent milling qualities.

Traditionally, the main producer of winter wheat in the region is S. Turkmenbashi etrap, whose grain fields cover thirty thousand hectares. Among the other major grain producers are Akdepe, Kunyaurgench, and Shavat etraps.

For the successful cultivation of this valuable crop, the region has an extensive fleet of specialized agricultural machinery and a large number of vehicles to ensure the timely transportation of the harvested crop. In addition, three high-capacity flour-milling complexes and seven grain elevators have been built in the velayat. Most of them are capable of accepting up to 50,000 tons of grain at one time for storage and cleaning, and are able to supply local grain producers with sufficient quantities of seed material.
