Registration has officially opened for the 31st International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026”, which will take place on 21–23 October 2026 in Ashgabat.

Held under the official theme “Energy. Partnership. Progress.”, OGT 2026 will bring together global energy leaders, senior executives of major companies, investors, financial institutions and technology providers to shape the next phase of international energy cooperation.

The upcoming conference builds on the strong momentum of the milestone 30th anniversary edition held in 2025, which brought together over 1,400 delegates from 70 countries, more than 100 exhibiting companies and 80 high-level speakers. This broad international participation once again confirmed OGT’s status as one of the leading industry platforms across Eurasia, where strategic dialogue consistently translates into practical outcomes and long-term partnerships.

A defining feature of OGT 2026 will be the continued development of the supergiant Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest in the world. The recent groundbreaking ceremony marking the launch of Phase IV, held with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Ding Xuexiang, highlighted the strategic importance of this project within the framework of bilateral energy cooperation. The new phase is expected to add up to 10 billion cubic metres of additional sales gas capacity per year, significantly intensifying international interest in Turkmenistan’s resource potential. This milestone sends a strong signal to global markets, underscoring the scale, consistency and long-term vision of Turkmenistan’s energy development strategy, and is expected to drive strong international participation and high-level engagement at the forthcoming conference.

This positive momentum is further reinforced by the recent International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China in the gas sector. The conference underscored the durability and effectiveness of long-term cooperation, demonstrating that international companies can successfully operate in Turkmenistan over decades, delivering large-scale projects and achieving sustained results. In this context, the upcoming 30th anniversary of PETRONAS’s operations in Turkmenistan serves as another important milestone, reflecting the country’s stable business environment and the confidence of leading global energy companies. Together, these achievements send a clear and compelling message to international investors that Turkmenistan offers a reliable platform for long-term partnership, successful project implementation and continued expansion of cooperation in the energy sector.

Turkmenistan’s energy strategy is founded on the principles of stability, long-term planning and international cooperation. As one of the world’s largest holders of natural gas reserves, the country is pursuing a balanced approach that combines the responsible development of hydrocarbon resources with the expansion of gas processing, petrochemicals, renewable energy and low-carbon technologies. Guided by its internationally recognised status of permanent neutrality, Turkmenistan actively advances initiatives aimed at ensuring reliable energy supply, developing secure export routes and strengthening equitable international cooperation.

Over more than three decades, OGT has evolved into a high-level international platform integrating strategic energy dialogue, promotion of investment and infrastructure projects, technology transfer and the development of human capital. The 2026 programme will address key priorities of the energy sector, including the phased development of the Galkynysh field, the implementation of the TAPI pipeline project, the expansion of offshore exploration in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, and the modernisation of upstream, processing and transport infrastructure.

Particular attention will be given to the monetisation of energy resources, the development of gas-chemical and petrochemical industries, the production of high value-added products and the diversification of export routes. The conference agenda will also reflect key technological trends shaping the industry, including digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence, operational efficiency improvements and the deployment of advanced environmental solutions.

In the context of the global energy transition, sustainability will remain a central focus of the conference. OGT 2026 will provide a platform for discussions on methane emissions reduction, energy efficiency, carbon capture, utilisation and storage, as well as the development of hydrogen and renewable energy. These priorities are closely aligned with Turkmenistan’s active engagement in the international climate agenda. In this regard, particular attention is drawn to the initiatives advanced by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during the International Energy and Environment Conference held in Vienna, where proposals were put forward to expand equitable access to energy resources and to promote the development of hydrogen energy as a key element of the future global energy mix. These initiatives further underscore Turkmenistan’s commitment to constructive international cooperation and environmentally responsible development, reinforcing the relevance of OGT 2026 as a platform for advancing sustainable energy solutions.

The conference programme will include a high-level plenary session, a ministerial roundtable, executive panels with leaders of major energy companies, industry and investment sessions, as well as an international exhibition featuring more than 100 participating companies. Particular emphasis will be placed on business meetings in B2B and B2G formats, alongside scientific and youth engagement initiatives.

OGT 2026 will continue its tradition as an effective platform where professional dialogue leads to concrete investment decisions, strengthened partnerships and the implementation of joint projects. Stability, a consistent economic policy and a long-term development vision continue to position Turkmenistan as a reliable energy partner and an attractive destination for international cooperation.

In the evolving global energy landscape, OGT 2026 will serve as an important international platform where new areas of cooperation are defined, investment opportunities are advanced and the foundations for future energy partnerships are established.

Registration for the conference is now open.
