New School Textbooks Published in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen State Publishing Service has released another batch of new textbooks for secondary school students across the country.

A new textbook titled “Literature” for 12th-grade students has been prepared by G. Sakhatova, O. Durdyeva, M. Goshayeva, A. Annamyradova, A. Begmyradova, and G. Orazgylyjova.

The new edition has been developed in accordance with the educational curriculum and covers the key stages in the development of Turkmen literature. It includes sections devoted to Turkmen literature of the 1960s–1980s, the development of drama, children's literature, literary translation, literary studies, and literary criticism. The textbook also explores literary movements during the era of independence, as well as selected works of world literature.

Special attention is given to the works of renowned Turkmen writers and poets, including Berdinazar Hudaynazarov, Kerim Gurbannepesov, Narym Jumayev, and Gurbannazar Ezizov, among other distinguished authors.

This educational publication is designed to broaden students’ literary horizons, foster analytical thinking, and improve the quality of humanities education.

A new textbook titled “Home Economics” has also been published for 5th-grade students studying in Russian. The authors are A. Yegenova and A. Hojayeva.

Developed in accordance with the curriculum, the textbook is aimed at helping students acquire practical skills essential for everyday life. It builds upon the knowledge gained in primary school and reinforces it through practical activities related to household management and manual work.

Particular emphasis has been placed on cultivating respect for labor, as well as developing independence and responsibility. The book will contribute to the upbringing of well-rounded individuals who are able to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills and are well prepared for life in the family and society.

Another new textbook for 5th-grade students is “French” (Second Foreign Language), prepared by G. Amanova, T. Atdayeva, and O. Gazakova.

The publication has been developed in accordance with the educational program and is intended to improve the methodology of foreign language instruction.

The textbook consists of five main sections: “Family,” “The Surrounding World,” “Society,” “Homeland,” and “Nature.” Its materials include texts, dialogues, exercises, grammar explanations, and illustrations.

The textbook is designed to develop students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in French, while also broadening their knowledge of the culture and traditions of French-speaking countries, fostering intercultural competence, and enhancing the overall quality of language education.
