A ceremony to commission the new dry cargo vessel «Gadamly» was held in the city of Turkmenbashy with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This event marked another important step in implementing transport strategy of the country and strengthening its status as a key logistics hub in Eurasia.
Addressing the participants of the ceremony, the head of state emphasised special role of Turkmenistan in the formation of transnational corridors in the East-West and North-South directions. Thanks to the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero-Arkadag, a powerful transport and logistics system has been formed in the country, including new railways and highways, modern international airports, and the Turkmenbashy international seaport.

Today we are making every effort to revive the ancient Great Silk Road in a new format. The «Balkan» Shipbuilding and ship repair yard», an open joint-stock company, is also effectively working in this regard: its launch in 2018, with the blessing of Hero Arkadag, was a landmark event in the context of increasing economic potential of the country», – the President of Turkmenistan said.
Since its launch in 2018, the company has confirmed its compliance with global standards, receiving a number of prestigious international certificates.

The new dry cargo vessel «Gadamly» is a striking result of the collaboration between Russian specialists and their Korean partners. Its carrying capacity is 6 thousand 100 tons. This vessel, equipped with modern technology, is capable of carrying 240 cargo containers of 20 tons each.
The development of the national merchant marine fleet continues at an accelerated pace. The head of state announced that another vessel of a similar class, the «Menzil», is being prepared for delivery this year in cooperation with partners from the Republic of Korea.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the new vessels will make a significant contribution to the prosperity of economy of Turkmenistan and the strengthening of international cooperation in the Caspian sea region.
