Lebap Silk Producers Are Concluding the Cocoon Harvesting Season

Silk producers of the Lebap velayat have achieved remarkable labor success in the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” They delivered around 1,020 tons of silkworm cocoons to the state instead of the planned 1,010 tons, thereby exceeding their contractual obligations.

This significant result became possible thanks to the region’s thorough preparation for the season, the clear organization of all processes, strict adherence to agricultural standards in cultivating the feed base, and the maintenance of ideal conditions for silkworm caterpillars. An important role in the overall success was also played by contracts concluded with experienced tenant silk producers and the constant support provided by specialists of the “Lebapwelaýatýüpek” production association.

An additional incentive for the region’s silk producers came from the example of etraps located in the eastern part of the velayat. They were the first in the country to begin caring for silkworms and the first to start delivering valuable raw materials to the state, successfully fulfilling their targets. This inspired silk producers throughout the Lebap velayat to work diligently. At present, most etraps of the country’s eastern region have already exceeded their contractual obligations, although the delivery of cocoons to the state is still ongoing.

In total, during the current season, contracts were concluded in the velayat with around 22,000 skilled silk producers, among whom 27,656 boxes of silkworm eggs were distributed. A significant share of the harvest came from the Charjev, Halach, Sayat, and Dyanev etraps. To date, silk producers of the Charjev etrap have obtained and delivered around 190 tons of cocoons to the state from 4,737 boxes of silkworm eggs, while producers in the Halach etrap produced 151.6 tons of valuable raw materials from 4,005 boxes of silkworm eggs. High results have also been demonstrated by tenant producers of the Dyanev etrap, who delivered 144.5 tons of cocoons obtained from 3,834 boxes of silkworm eggs, and by silk producers of the Sayat etrap, whose contribution exceeded 132 tons of cocoons from 3,615 boxes of silkworm eggs. The high average yield of raw materials from each box of silkworm eggs in other etraps of the velayat also clearly confirms the exemplary organization of work throughout the region.
