The international exhibition and trade fair TurkmenTextile Expo has traditionally served as a platform for exciting new discoveries. This year, the Anna Kor brand attracted the attention of visitors and industry experts alike. Its founder, Turkmen designer Anna Korostova, presented her first major collection, in which Turkmen national heritage is delicately interwoven with contemporary European fashion trends.
For Anna, this fashion show marked her debut. Her journey toward this moment began in early childhood.
“My love for fashion was born when I was a child. At first, I drew sketches, and I started sewing when I was just seven years old. Even then, I was certain about what I wanted to become,” the designer recalls.
Over time, that childhood enthusiasm evolved into a deep professional passion. Anna received specialized training in garment construction and later earned a higher education degree in marketing and management. The combination of creativity and practical business knowledge enabled her not only to design clothing but also to establish a solid foundation for her own brand.
The debut collection was given the symbolic name Anew, which contains a subtle play on meanings that reflects both the designer’s love for her homeland and her vision for the future.
“On the one hand, Anew refers to my hometown of Anev, which has always been a source of inspiration for me. On the other hand, the English phrase “a new” signifies a new beginning, perfectly symbolizing the start of a major creative journey,” Anna explained.
The defining characteristic of the Anna Kor style is its bold yet harmonious fusion of different influences into a unified artistic concept. By carefully studying European fashion trends, Anna incorporates Turkmenistan’s rich cultural heritage into her designs. She skillfully combines refined European silhouettes with distinctive national motifs.
The collection features feminine dresses, skirts, and blouses. A special place in the designer’s work is devoted to traditional premium fabrics.
“My favorite materials are velvet and panne velvet, known for their expressive patterns and luxurious texture. In my interpretations of the traditional women’s costume, I specifically work with Turkmen panne velvet. Another legendary material—handcrafted silk—has also been used in the collection. Several exclusive dresses are made from keteni fabric and adorned with intricate embroidery that highlights the authenticity of the designs,” the designer said.
Anna’s previous presentations served as a prelude to this important milestone in her creative career. The unveiling of the Anew collection at TurkmenTextile Expo–2026 introduced the Turkmen fashion industry to a promising new designer—one who speaks the language of haute couture while remaining deeply connected to her cultural roots.
