Turkmen Students Win 11 Prize Places at the “Lomonosov–2026” Universiade in Moscow

Students from Turkmen universities have achieved outstanding success at the “Lomonosov–2026” Universiade in Linguistics, Regional Studies, and Cultural Studies, organized by Lomonosov Moscow State University.

In the Linguistics category of the Universiade, Turkmen participants won a total of 11 prize places: 3 first places and 8 second places.

The first-place winners are Guncha Musaeva, a 3rd-year student of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi, Yaran Hudayberdiyev, a 1st-year master’s student of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. A. Niyazov, Leyli Romanova, a 3rd-year student of the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi.

Second places were awarded to students of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi — Aymaral Jumabayeva (3rd year), Leyli Durdyeva (2nd year), and Kristina Semenova (3rd year); students of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University— Mukhammet Nurmammedov (1st year), Lale Rzagulyyeva(4th year), Zuleikha Orazova (4th year), Bagul Orazmyradova (3rd year); as well as Kamila Hudaybergenova, 4th-year student of the Turkmen State Medical University named after M. Garryyev.

The intellectual competition was held in two stages. In the first qualifying correspondence stage, participants were asked to prepare an abstract of an independent linguistic research project. The second and final stage of the Universiade took place in Moscow and included linguistic tasks in foreign languages, depending on the chosen track.

At the Universiade venue, Turkmen students demonstrated excellent knowledge of Russian, English, and French. Their high level of language proficiency was highly praised by the organizers of the event.

In the final round, our country was represented by a team of 29 students from five universities. The national team was led by two academic supervisors: Maysa Atayeva, lecturer at the Department of Russian Literature of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi, and Jennet Shamyyeva, lecturer at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly.

Turkmen students have been participating in the Linguistics category of the “Lomonosov” Universiade for the fourth time and consistently achieve strong results.

Overall, the Universiade is traditionally held in four areas: Linguistics, Regional Studies of Russia, Foreign Regional Studies, and Cultural Studies. This international academic contest annually brings together talented humanities students — bachelor’s, specialist, master’s, postgraduate students, and young professionals from various countries.

The “Lomonosov” Universiade is organized to identify and support talented youth, develop students’ creative abilities, promote their professional growth, encourage further studies at master’s and doctoral levels, and strengthen academic ties between universities in Russia, CIS countries, and beyond.
