The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, jointly with the Magtymguly Library of Kyiv, held the “Days of Magtymguly Poetry” from 11 to 20 June this year. The event was dedicated to the Day of Cultural and Art Workers of Turkmenistan, as well as the Poetry of Magtymguly Fragi, and was organized within the framework of events marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. The cultural and educational event brought together representatives of the diplomatic, scientific, educational and creative communities, researchers of the legacy of the great Turkmen poet, teachers, students and Turkmen youth. The events were held in both online and offline formats.
During the meetings, presentations were delivered on the life and creative heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy, his philosophical legacy and the significance of his poetry in the spiritual culture of the Turkmen people.
As part of the programme, poems by Magtymguly were recited in Turkmen, Ukrainian, French and English languages. Musical compositions based on the poet’s works performed by students of music schools in Kyiv received special attention.
Guests also visited the Magtymguly Museum Room at the library of the same name, where they viewed an exhibition dedicated to the poet’s life and work, editions of his works in different languages, examples of Turkmen decorative and applied arts, as well as national musical instruments.
The “Days of Magtymguly Poetry” concluded with a recitation of the poet’s poem “Mount Songu-Dagy” at the Magtymguly monument in Kyiv in Turkmen and Ukrainian languages.
The joint project of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine and the Library named after Magtymguly clearly confirmed the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage that unites generations, fosters the spiritual mutual enrichment of peoples and serves as a solid foundation for the further development of cultural cooperation.
