New directions for the development of Turkmen- Kazakh economic cooperation identified in Astana

On June 24, 2026, the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.

Representatives of government bodies and business communities of both countries took part in the meeting. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev, while the Kazakh side was led by Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Koishybayev.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, transport and logistics, oil and gas, agriculture, scientific and technical fields, as well as cultural and humanitarian areas.

It was noted that thanks to the consistent development of mutually beneficial partnership between the two states, sustainable positive dynamics have been observed in trade and economic relations.

A significant increase in the volume of mutual supplies of products was also emphasized.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Turkmen-Kazakh Business Forum was held, bringing together representatives of the private sectors of both countries. The event was attended by about 40 leading companies from Turkmenistan and more than 100 representatives of business circles and development institutions of Kazakhstan.

During the continuation of the forum, the Kazakh side presented promising areas for expanding trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the development of supplies of products in the fields of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, construction, pharmaceuticals and agricultural production.

Representatives of Turkmen business, in turn, confirmed their interest in further expanding partnerships with Kazakh companies and implementing joint projects in priority areas.

Within the framework of the event, specific agreements were reached:

— A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center JSC and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan;

— Agreements in the field of e-commerce were concluded between Kazakhstan’s Silk Way Asia Trade LLP and Turkmen companies Hazar Logistik Economic Society and Gamma Individual Enterprise;

— A cooperation agreement in the investment and construction sector was signed between Ashra Solutions LLP and Ojar Aziýa Individual Enterprise.

Following the negotiations, the parties emphasized the importance of further strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, expanding industrial cooperation, introducing digital solutions and intensifying interaction between the business communities of the two countries.
