On 28 August 2026, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan Şener Cebecı, who presented his credentials to the Head of State.

Expressing his sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the Ambassador noted that it is a great honour for him to represent the Republic of Türkiye in his historic homeland – Turkmenistan. Taking the opportunity, Ambassador Cebeci conveyed to the Head of State and Hero Arkadag warm greetings and best wishes from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Conveying his warm wishes in return to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Şener Cebecı on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan and wished him success in his work in this high diplomatic post, aimed at further development and strengthening of inter-state dialogue.

It was emphasised that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye are linked by close fraternal relations of a long-term, strategic nature. Cooperation between the two countries is based on mutual respect and trust. Constructive dialogue at the highest state level, as well as regular reciprocal visits and meetings between government delegations, make a significant contribution to strengthening this fruitful partnership.

In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, held on 12 December 2025, had given a new impetus to the comprehensive strengthening of inter-state cooperation.

It was noted that the two countries cooperate successfully both bilaterally and within the framework of reputable international organisations, particularly the United Nations.

In this regard, it was underlined with satisfaction that the two states share common views on issues on the international and regional agenda, in particular those relating to the maintenance of peace and security and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Speaking on economic cooperation, the Head of State emphasised that the Republic of Türkiye is one of Turkmenistan’s largest trade and economic partners.

The Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Business Council play a significant role in further expansion of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, it was also noted that ties between the two states and peoples are actively developing in the fields of culture, science, art and creativity. In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his confidence that, in his capacity as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, the diplomat would make every effort to take the inter-state partnership to a qualitatively new level.

Expressing his sincere gratitude for the high level of trust placed in him, Şener Cebeci assured that, in carrying out his diplomatic mission, he would make every effort to further strengthen the fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, and to develop effective cooperation in the mutual interests of both sides.
